Austin, Kelly, and I wrapped up our film shoot of Other Life yesterday evening. It has been a challenging 7 days, but this last one was definitely the hardest. For the dancers, that is. They had the pleasure of repeating their grueling 3 1/2 minute piece 18 times in the Sprenger Theatre which luckily had the heat on. Oh yeah. Nothing like dancing under hot lights with the heat on in the summer. Good times, good times.
We’ll post up the information on the premiere of Other Life at the Source as soon as we know more.
Boris Willis and Kelly Mayfield danced the Duet again yesterday (to the dismay of their sore, sore muscles) so we could get our closeup shots.
Here they are warming up… unbelievable, eh?
Today is our last day of shooting Other Life in the Atlas Performing Arts Center here on H Street NE. It’s memorial day and absolutely gorgeous outside. But we’ll happily give up this fantastic day to enjoy ourselves indoors. We’re making a movie here, people.
Kelly Mayfield dancing in among the flowers. The three of us spent the day in the theatre filming her solo for our film Other Life. I can safely say we are all unbelievably tired, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If all goes well, we should wrap Tuesday night – one day early!
Of course, then we must immediately start the post work if we hope to have a snippet ready for Art-o-matic on June 6th.
Yesterday we wrapped our fourth grueling day of filming Other Life with Kelly Mayfield of Contradiction Dance. We are all exhausted and exhilarated, but mostly we are all concerned about the damn septic tank exploding again.
Kelly Mayfield and Boris Willis twirling in their duet.
A sneak peek of Scene 1 through the monitor. If you look hard you can see Boris, Kelly, Emily Arden, and Jasmine Artis. Josh is hiding in the wings.
Today we began to roll tape on our first dance film featuring the choreography and amazing dance talents of Kelly Mayfield of Contradiction Dance. Kelly, Austin, and I have created “Other Life”, a short film noir meets dance to be premiered at the Source Festival this July. We spent the day shooting Kelly, Boris Willis, and Jasmine Artis. So far? It looks incredible. We can’t wait to show it off at the Source.
If you want to see a sneak peek, be sure to come to Art-o-matic June 6th or 8th. Until then… here are a few photos to tempt your tastebuds.
Austin and I will be pre-screening a snippet of The Other Life, our latest film featuring (and choreographed by) Kelly Mayfield of Contradiction Dance on June 6 (8pm) and June 8th (2pm) at Art-o-matic. This film is our first foray into the world of dance, and it while it has not been filmed yet (we start rolling on Tuesday), it has been a wonderfully exciting experience thus far.
On a side note: check out our fabulous website www.chopshopstudios.com
starring Regina Aquino & Linden Tailor.
Here is our latest film. Enjoy!
We spent the weekend writing, shooting, and editing a film for the Washington DC 48 Hour Film Festival! Our film, Lost on D Street, will be screened at the AFI in Silver Spring on Tuesday (May 8th) at 9.30pm. Please come!
Our film stars the lovely Regina Aquino, Linden Tailor, Riana Aquino-Richards, Robert Richards, and a surprise cameo. Check back here next week to see the film in all its 4 minute glory.
Here is a short film we shot in Dublin back in January of 2004.
It only lasts 90 seconds, just enough to whet your appetite for our other pieces.
starring: Alicia Ní Ghraínne & Ronan Raftery
ENJOY!
This is our first film. We shot it in Seattle back in August of 2003. It stars Jaime Roberts, Hana Lass, and Caitlin Clouthier. All the music is by John Osebold.
It is the story of a young composer, living in a world where music is not allowed, seeking out someone who can understand her.
